We look forward to welcoming you to CSU! All new students are expected to participate in Ram Welcome!  Please Note:  Ram Welcome for the fall 2020 semester has been redesigned due to the global pandemic and with current health precautions and guidelines in mind. Thus, Ram Welcome will consist of primarily virtual components for students to welcome them to the University and build community with some engagement opportunities students can engage in during their own time. 

You can access your Virtual Ram Welcome from any browser, but for the best experience, we recommend using Google Chrome. You can also view your Virtual Ram Welcome from any smart phone.  

To access Ram Welcome: 

1. Visit the following link: https://canvas.colostate.edu/  

2. Login using your eID and password  

In addition to your scheduled Ram Welcome (see session information by population below), you are expected to participate in programming available to all students throughout the week of August 18-August 23rd 

  • Scheduled Virtual College/Department Welcome Activities for all new students. Students will participate in sessions specific to their college/major. Please find more information about the date and time of your college session on your Canvas Ram Welcome page, as these vary throughout the week. 
  • Virtual Interest Sessions scheduled each day. A series of webinars with various campus offices(Involvement, Learning Programs, the Outdoor Program, Fraternity & Sorority Life, the Library, Rec Center, etc.) will be available for students. Please do note the frequency and times of the webinars as not all will happen daily. 

First-Year On-Campus Students

First-Year students living the residence halls will begin their Ram Welcome experience based off their move-in date.  Ram Welcome will begin the day after students move in, which includes virtual small group meetings with a Ram Welcome Leader with other students who moved in on the same day and reside in the same residence hall. 

Example: Students moving in on Monday, August 17 will start their Ram Welcome experience on Tuesday, August 18.  Students moving in on Tuesday, August 18, will start their Ram Welcome experience on Wednesday, August 19, etc.

Small group meetings will provide new students a way to connect with a current student leader, connect with their new student peers and learn more about Colorado State University.  Links to small group sessions will be provided to students via their Canvas (similar to Virtual Ram Orientation). Small group information includes:

  • Welcome messages from university leadership
  • Learning about CSU traditions
  • Discussing how to prepare for classes
  • Learning what it means to be a part of the CSU Community, and more. 

See above for how to access these virtual small group meetings during Ram Welcome.  In addition to the virtual small group meetings, students will be provided with a variety of things to do on their own to connect to the university throughout the week.  Each residence hall will have virtual programming and opportunities for residents to connect with other students in their building in the evenings the week of move-in. 

Sample Ram Welcome Schedule for First-Year On-Campus Students:

Day After Move-In:

  • 9:30am-10:15am – Small Group Meeting #1 (Welcome to Colorado State University)
  • 10:30am-11:15am – Small Group Meeting #2 (Preparing for Classes)
  • 11:15am-1:00pm – Lunch Break on Own
  • 1:00pm-2:00pm – Small Group Meeting #3 (We Are CSU: What it Means to Be a Part of the CSU Community)
  • Sign up for a time – Pick up Ram Welcome Materials at the Ram Welcome Distribution Tent (sign-up link provided at a later date)

First-Year Off-Campus Students

First-Year Students living off-campus will have two options for the virtual Off-Campus Student Welcome & Small Group meetings to attend on Tuesday, August 18:

  • Off-Campus Student Welcome & Small Group Meeting Session #1- 1:00-4:00pm
  • Off Campus Student Welcome & Small Group Meeting Session #2- 5:00-8:00pm

The Off-Campus Student Welcome & Small Group Meetings will provide students living off-campus (and within commuting distance) an opportunity to meet and connect with other new first year-students to learn about the services available through the Office of Off-Campus Life.    See above for how to access these virtual small group meetings during Ram Welcome.  In addition to these virtual welcomes and small group meetings, first-year students living off-campus will be provided with a variety of things to do on their own to connect to the university throughout the week. 


First-Year Remote Students (Online Classes Only, Non-Local, Not On-Campus)

First-Year students who are remote (online classes only, non-local and not living on-campus will experience virtual Ram Welcome small group meetings on Friday, August 21.   These small group meetings will allow first-year students who are remote the opportunity to meet their peers also remote for the fall semester as well as provide new students a way to connect with a current student leader, and learn more about Colorado State University.   Small group information includes:  

  • Welcome messages from university leadership  
  • Learning about CSU traditions  
  • Discussing how to prepare for classes  
  • Learning what it means to be a part of the CSU Community, and more.    

See above for how to access these virtual small group meetings during Ram Welcome.  In addition to the virtual small group meetings, first-year students who are remote will be provided with a variety of remote and virtual things to do on their own to connect to the university throughout the week.  Please note:  process for distribution and mailing Ram Welcome materials to virtual students is still being determined and will happen early into the fall semester.
