What is Ram Welcome?
The next part of your orientation experience is to engage in Ram Welcome! All new students are expected to participate in Ram Welcome.
Build upon your orientation experience and begin your successful adjustment to Colorado State University by exploring academic programs, engaging with faculty and staff, learning about the many services available to support your college experience, becoming part of the CSU campus community, connecting with other new and current students, learning traditions and discovering what it means to be a CSU Ram! The Ram Welcome program is a campus-wide coordinated effort that brings the entire campus community together to welcome new students at the start of each semester.
Ram Welcome for the fall 2020 semester has been redesigned due to the global pandemic and with current health precautions and guidelines in mind. Thus, Ram Welcome will consist of primarily virtual components for students to welcome them to the University and build community with some additional opportunities students have the opportunity to engage in during their own time. Please see links on this page to learn more about the different Ram Welcome experiences this year.
When does Ram Welcome begin?
Please see the specific links on this page by population in order to learn more about the specific Ram Welcome schedules for Fall 2020: (First Year Students, Transfer Students, Adult Learner & Student Veterans, International Students, Parents & Family Members).
How do I know who my Ram Welcome Leader is?
New students will meet their Ram Welcome Leaders and their Transfer Transition Leaders during scheduled small group meetings during Ram Welcome.
Are parent & family members invited to attend Ram Welcome and when is the best time to say “goodbye” to my student?
Ram Welcome programming for families will be virtual only for the Fall 2020 semester. For more information on Ram Welcome for parents and families, visit here. Ram Welcome sessions for families will be offered August 10-14 and August 17-21. Each virtual session for families will be offered both LIVE and recorded for viewing at a later date. Family Ram Welcome sessions will feature information from a variety of campus resources as well as sessions with academic colleges and administration.
In terms of when to say “goodbye” to your student, families are encouraged to say goodbye and leave campus sometime on the same day that your student moves-in. Student’s will begin their Ram Welcome experience on the day after they move-in and therefore saying goodbye before Ram Welcome begins will ensure the student is able to participate in their Ram Welcome sessions.
I’ve heard about a Carnival and Welcome Dinner for students and families the first night of Ram Welcome, when is that happening?
Due to the global pandemic and physical distancing requirements and public health guidelines this year there will not be any in person large scale programs or events as part of Ram Welcome 2020.
How will I be able to access links to virtual Ram Welcome programming?
Students will receive information about how to access their Ram Welcome links via Canvas (similar to Virtual Ram Orientation) prior to Ram Welcome. Students should check their CSU email account for more information.
