Ram Welcome Overview
Ram Welcome: Experience CSU! is an exciting experience for every new first year and transfer student. Students begin their successful transition to Colorado State by exploring academic programs, meeting faculty, and learning about the many services available to support the college experience. Ram Welcome helps new students become a part of the campus community, learn important traditions, and discover what it means to be a CSU Ram! This year’s Ram Welcome will take place August 21-24, 2008. Ram Welcome is a campus-wide collaboration coordinated by the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Orientation and Transition Programs in the Center for Advising and Student Achievement (CASA).
Ram Welcome Leader (RWL) Position Description
In a new role developed for fall 2008, selected Ram Welcome Leaders will actively participate in training and serve as the primary workforce behind the implementation of fall 2008 Ram Welcome. Training will include: logistics of Ram Welcome, Colorado State University institutional values, customer service, working with first year students, transfer students, parents, families and more. Specific roles will vary depending on which events RWL’s are staffing. Overall, these individuals will serve as a resource of information about Colorado State University, greet and provide direction to new students, parents and families during Ram Welcome events, assist new students in developing positive peer relationships and more!
Ram Welcome Leaders will have the opportunity to make connections with first year students, transfer students, parents, and family members while representing Colorado State University in a positive manner. Each member of this team will be required to work approximately 15 hours throughout the weekend. **Specific shifts worked will be determined based upon availability of Ram Welcome Leaders.
**Individuals selected as First Year Mentoring Program Peer Mentors and Transfer Mentoring Program Transfer Mentors will automatically serve as Ram Welcome Leaders. They do not need to fill out an additional application.
Qualifications
- Potential to grow and develop as a leader on campus
- Ability to work effectively with a group
- Positive and effective communication skills
- A desire to work with new students, parents, families, faculty and staff
- High energy and positive attitude
- Comfortable serving as a positive role model for new students by modeling integrity and enthusiasm
- Ability to solve problems or trouble shoot
- Be ready to have fun
Requirements
- Must be in Good Academic Standing (at least 2.5 cumulative G.P.A)
- Must be in Good Disciplinary Standing
- Must be available for a Spring Training (April 23, 2008, 6:00-8:00pm, Lory Student Center Room 228) and Fall Training (August 18, 2008 12:00-5:00 pm, Location TBD)
- Must be available to work at least 15 hours between August 21-24, 2008
- Must have been a full-time student during Spring 2008 semester
- Must be enrolled in Fall 2008 classes
- 2008-2009 Resident Assistants are not eligible for employment
- 2008 Residence Life O-Team Members are not eligible for employment
Compensation
- $100.00 Convenience Cash loaded onto RAM Card to be available on the first day of classes.

- Meals and Snacks during volunteer times (varies depending on shifts worked)
Selection Process
- Applications Available – March 31, 2008
- Applications Due – April 11, 2008 by 4:00 p.m. submitted online
- Notification of Employment – April 16, 2008
- Spring Training –April 23, 2008, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Fall Training - August 18, 2008, Noon – 5:00 p.m.
- Fall 2008 Welcome – August 21-24, 2008
